At Springer's Jewelers, we are committed to bringing you the finest timepieces the world has to offer. Today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of NOMOS Watches.
The Legacy of Glashütte: A Tradition of Excellence
NOMOS Watches are masterpieces of German engineering, hailing from Glashütte, the world-renowned town that has been the heart of German watchmaking for over 175 years. Nestled in the eastern Ore Mountains, Glashütte has a storied history, beginning in 1845 when Saxon King Friedrich August II tasked master watchmaker Ferdinand Adolph Lange with establishing a watchmaking industry to revitalize the area. Since then, Glashütte has become synonymous with the finest watches globally.
Despite challenges such as the World Wars and the GDR period, Glashütte's watchmaking expertise only grew stronger. Today, the name “Glashütte” is protected under strict appellation laws, ensuring that only timepieces with at least 50 percent of their value created on-site can bear this prestigious label. NOMOS Glashütte exceeds this requirement, producing up to 95 percent of each watch movement on-site, showcasing a level of dedication and craftsmanship that few can match.
The NOMOS Difference: Precision, Innovation, and Timeless Design
Founded by Roland Schwertner in 1990, NOMOS Glashütte quickly became Germany’s largest manufacturer of mechanical timepieces. With thirteen model families and eleven calibers, these watches are celebrated for their precision, innovation, and distinct design. They are a true reflection of contemporary elegance, blending the rich heritage of Glashütte with modern engineering.
NOMOS watches are easily recognized by their unique characteristics—hallmarks of Glashütte craftsmanship. The three-quarter plate, a robust construction with 150 years of tradition, the elegant swan neck fine adjustment, and the Glashütte stopwork, a part of the winding mechanism with a distinctive long and curved jumper spring, all contribute to the superior performance of these timepieces. In addition, NOMOS movements feature tempered blue screws, which acquire their cornflower blue hue after being baked at over 290 degrees Celsius. This process not only gives them their striking color but also protects against corrosion. Each movement is further adorned with intricate perlage, ribbing, and sunburst decorations—one-of-a-kind touches that set these watches apart.
